Kids say the Darnest Things

Josh told me this morning that his "whole body" was excited to build our Christmas tree. Robert got everything down from the attic this morning and all the boxes are still in the living room! We got the tree up and decorated...the rest can wait.

I NEVER shop the day after Thanksgiving. Never have and probably never will. Any time we are in Gladewater for Thanksgiving my sister-in-laws leave me in bed asleep and go shopping. Well guess who went to Wal-Mart this morning at 7:30...ROBERT. Can you believe that? I made a list and off he went. He got a few things on the list and I guess didn't mind the crowds....wonder what Starbucks put in his coffee?!

The other cute thing Josh said today was when we got out Kolton's huge nut-cracker. Josh calls it a cracker-nut. He makes me laugh everyday.

Tonight Robert, Josh and I went to pick out tables for our living room...exciting huh? It's my Christmas present to myself. I picked out end-tables and the ottoman that matches our couch and loveseat. I don't need a coffee table for 2 reasons...#1 we'll just prop our feet on it and #2 it's a hazardous object that could cause one of the kids to get stitches....been there done that several times.

Tomorrow we are taking Kolton to Texas Stadium to watch Wylie in the play-offs. Kolton and I have never been to Texas Stadium so it should be fun. (I've never even been to a Wylie football game for that matter! Remember I grew up in KS where no one cared about HS football.)

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Hope everyone is having a good and safe holiday. We are headed to have dinner with my parents and finish watching the Cowboys game.

Robert and I are are so thankful to the Lord for our friends, family, church, and the health of our children.

Party Time

Josh pitched a tent this morning and said he was having a party and I was invited. As I started to crawl into his tent he told me I wasn't invited anymore because I was too big. No too old, too big. Lovely.

Emma slept all night last night! Robert feed her and put her down at 11:30ish and she slept until 8:00 this morning!!! Bet she doesn't do that tonight. She has started smiling and trying to coo and she will be sucking her thumb as soon as she figures out how to get it into her mouth. For now her fist does the job sometimes. She goes for her 2 month check-up next week and first set of shots. 2 months old already!! Before you know we'll be fighting over the amount of make-up she has on!!

Mason is here having a sleep over with Kolton. I'm sure tomorrow they will play football ALL DAY LONG. Mason is a year older than Kolton and they have been friends since they were 2 & 3 years old I think...either that or Kolton was 3 and Mason 4. Mason has been to every one of Kolton's birthday parties and I love looking back at the pictures of the two of them together when they were little.

I'm so glad tomorrow is Wednesday! Like everyone else I'm ready for 4 days off with my family. I will eat, sleep, watch football, eat, sleep, watch football, eat, sleep....you get the idea!

A New Post!!

I'm with Cindy, I've been on facebook more and more and on my blog less and less!

Last week was kinda uneventful. Monday I took Josh to the doctor for an earache but luckily it wasn't an ear infection. I weighed Emma while we were there and she weighs 9 lbs 4.5 oz!!!! I'd post a picture but our camera broke...what timing.

Thursday ECI came out to evaluate Emma's neck because she favors one side over the other. Robert thought I was crazy but turns out I'm not. She has left torticollis...her neck muscle on the left side of her neck is tighter than the right side so her head tilts. I have exercises to do with her and a physical therapist will come out twice a month.

Friday night we did nothing. Saturday I took the boys to see the movie Bolt. After sitting in the theater for 10 minutes and watching 15 minutes of previews, Josh had to go potty as soon as the movie started!!! It was was a cute movie and worth taking your kiddos to. Saturday evening Robert's parents were in town and came over to see us and we just hung out and did nothing. Sunday was church, lunch, nap, and back to church.

Today I took the kids over to meet Robert for lunch and introduce Emma to all the guys he works with....I guess they aren't all guys...there are 3 or 4 women whom I feel very sorry for. If you knew 'the guys' you'd feel sorry for the girls too!! Tonight I did a little Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart (your favorite Melissa!) and the commercial for Wal-Mart that says they have more lanes open than ever...LIE....they don't. But the place wasn't busy and I was able to mark items off the Christmas shopping list.

For Thanksgiving we are staying in town and having dinner at my parents house Thursday night. Wednesday night we might take the kids to see another movie and Saturday we may go see the Wylie Pirates play at Texas Stadium. What we won't be doing is shopping on Friday!!!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

I'm so not creative at a title for my postings.....

Friday Kolton's endocrinologist called with his test results. His thyroid functions are normal right now but his antibodies were positive which means his immune system is attacking his thyroid gland and he will need thyroid medication "some day". Once a person has 1 auto-immune disease (type 1 diabetes) they can get others. First his pancreas, now his thyroid, what next?! Hopefully nothing. People have responded to this news with "no big deal...thyroid is easy to manage" but when your kid is only 9 and is taking 4 shots a day for the rest of his life, thyroid medication is a big deal. It's another thing he'll take forever....I did mention he's only 9 right?!!! I love my friend Stacy in KY. Her son is type 1 also and her reaction to the news was "that's a bummer". EXACTLY!!!

Friday night Robert and I took Josh, Emma, (Kolton didn't want to go) and BBQ to Hannah and Brian's to hang out and play the Wii. I love watching people play the Wii....it's so funny!! Hannah and Brian's kiddos Jacob and Jenna were there too of course. Jacob is so sweet! He brought me books to read to him and his morning at church when he saw me he said "Joshie's"....too cute! You know you are getting old though when your Friday night out ends at 10:00!!

Saturday I went to IHOP for breakfast with the ladies from church and there were a bunch of us!! Poor server. Breakfast was good and all us moms enjoyed being away from our kids!!

Saturday night Robert and I had date night. We went to a local Italian place in Rockwall and then to a coffee shop in Mesquite. (Yes Helen and Gina D. I said Mesquite). A guy who used to go to our church is in a christian band and they were playing in Mesquite and we went to listen. They were good! Robert is back with a christian band and they will be better though! We had a late night...didn't pick Josh and Emma up until 11:00!! Kolton stayed at Nanny's.

Today was church, the Turkey bowl (football) and now Emma and I are going to Jared's to pick my rings up. Of course my fingers gained weight during the pregnancy and I'm not sure they plan on going backwards in size so I had my rings sized up...tired of not being able to wear 'em!!

Cindy

I really have nothing to blog about so I'll blog about my best friend Cindy for those of you who read this and don't know her. She got herself a new car yesterday and I'm SO excited for her. You don't know how many times I've heard her say "my car's in the shop ... again" over the last several years. Her american-made car was junk so she bought a Honda...so proud of her. Of course her purchase makes me want a mini-van again....or maybe not. I get the car bug often as does my dad...it's in the genes.

Now on to the story of Ethan. Cindy has one ADORABLE daughter named Justine whom they adopted through CPS. Cindy and her husband have been waiting for what feels like forever for a baby boy to come along to adopt. They finally have their baby boy to adopt. Ethan was born 16 hours after Emma which made his birthday Kolton's birthday...October 4! Who knew the whole time I was pregnant with Emma that Ethan was cooking too?! Cindy and I said God had it planned for us to have babies on the same weekend and everyone at church is telling us that too!! Cindy got to name her baby too! When he arrived at her house his name was sadly "baby boy". So now we have Josh and Justine, Emma and Ethan who was born on Kolton's birthday!!! Of course with us having our babies 16 hours apart we lost our help. Normally I'd be keeping her baby and she'd be helping me with Emma but not anymore! We each have our hands full! Ethan and Emma are just another example of God's perfect timing.

Sunday and Forgetful

Yesterday was a big Sunday for the Watson's. Emma made her debut at church as did our new pastor, Lash. Emma was a hit and Lash didn't do too bad either.

Now to the forgetful part....while the boys were at AWANA Emma and I went to the store to pick up a few things. I decided tacos would be a quick, easy dinner since Robert would be at the church late and I'd have all 3 kiddos. I was halfway through cooking when I realized I had forgotten the TACO SEASONING. O well...the boys still ate the tacos and said they were great.

Forgetful #2....I stayed up last night and fed Emma at 11:00 ish while Robert went to bed and he took the 4 am feeding and I'd get up at 7 to get Kolton ready for school. During that 4 am feeding I shot up out of bed and remembered I had forgotten to give Kolton his NIGHT TIME INSULIN!!!! This insulin is his long acting that he gets when he goes to bed but not last night! He got it at 4 this morning and I had to email the diabetes educators so they could tell me what to do with tonight's shot.

I know we have all eaten lunch in the car on the go...but you know you are a mom when lunch to go is a PB&J sandwich! And apparently I haven't adjusted to being out-numbered yet since I didn't give my DIABETIC his INSULIN!!!!

Kolton and I will be going to church camp this summer. Not sure yet where I'll be sleeping. I was told the camp has hotel/motel like accomedations. As long as it's 5-star I'm in. (Just kidding).

My Sistas

I just finished talking to my friend Melissa on facebook IM. Did you know you could IM on facebook?! I didn't know this until Cindy told me!!! Anyway, can I just say that I have the best girlfriends ever?!!! I have one "real" sister who lives in Kansas and I have a ton of "sistas" here.

Robert and I are blessed to have such a wonderful church family. Many of the people we go to church with have become like extended family to us and so that's why I say I have a ton of "sistas". I stole that term from Cindy by the way...that's what she and her "real" sister call each other. And Cari, just because you moved doesn't mean you aren't a sista anymore...you still are!!

Happy Birthday.....

Happy Birthday to my brother-in-law Michael and his wife Robin. Mike's birthday is today and Robin tomorrow. Mike is Robert's baby brother and I give him a hard time about getting old but I'm right on his heels...he's only 2 months older than me. Robin's still the baby of the Watson family but not by much! Honestly, Robert's the only old one...the rest of us are still young pups in our 30's.

Everyone here is doing well. Emma is eating and sleeping and is still such a great baby! Josh got his flu shot yesterday and was a big boy and didn't cry. Kolton had his blood drawn today to check his thyroid that I blogged about earlier so pray those test results are normal. I've been back to the chiropractor a few more times and am getting my eyes checked later today....I want a new pair or RX sunglasses...mine are so not cool and so old........

Last night I got to go hang out with a couple of my girlfriends, one of which hadn't seen Emma yet and it was so much fun having some girl time. When I told Kolton we ate pizza and then sat around and talked his reply was "that's it?"....yes that's it! Pizza, friends, and laughter...what more do you need?!!

Kolton told me he wants to go to church pre-teen camp this summer :) He won't go without me and I won't let him go without me (because of the diabetes). Camp isn't until July and right now there isn't room for another adult to go so we are going to wait and see when it gets closer to camp if there is room for the 2 of us since we are a package deal :) I hope we end up going. I know Kolton and I would both have a great time. Some kids are very independent diabetics but he's not there yet and I don't mind. He's only little once and I only get to take care of him for so long before he thinks I'm not cool anymore!

Weekend Update

The Watson gang hasn't been up to a whole lot over the last couple days. Kolton and Josh both had their last soccer games yesterday and Josh had his end of season party. We went trick or treating for a little while Friday night but Josh and my nephew Alex got tired pretty quick so we only stayed out for about an hour (if even that long). Friday I took advantage of my sister and dad being home and went to the chiropractor, voted and went by my office. Saturday I treated myself to a 1 hour massage and today I treated myself to a pedicure that I had a gift certificate for (thanks Nancy). The chiropractor I found is awesome and the office includes a massage therapist, facials, body wraps, personal trainer.....I didn't want to leave the place! The best part...the office is only 10 min from my house (Naaman School Rd between Brand and 78 for those of you who would like to go too :) )

Last night Robert and I went to Macy's all by ourselves and then to eat at On the Border. We hadn't planned on having a date night but it ended up that way!! Of course I bought Emma 2 outfits at Macy's and I could have bought so many more!!

Today Robert is the only one who made it to church. All I managed to do before he got home from church was give Josh and Emma a bath and keep the laundry going. I didn't even get a shower until 1:30!!!!

Next up is AWANA for the boys and I have to get a be-lated birthday card in the mail for Robert's niece who had a birthday Friday. I didn't forget the birthday...just didn't manage to get a card in the mail on time.
