Life with Boys is Never.....

Dull. Tonight Robert and I were invited to a music ministry appreciation dinner at Woodcreek even though he just joined the ministry and plays for the first time tomorrow. After dinner a lady with a fabulous voice was singing for everyone when we got the call. The call that Josh fell at mom and dad's and shoved one of his front teeth up into the gum. My mom was so freaked out that it freaked me out...hate it when she does that. I'm the one who can stay calm! We took him to the ER even though I knew they couldn't do anything and I was right...they turned us away...sorta. Called the dentist and I'll be taking Josh in at 8 on Monday morning to have it checked out.

This past week Kolton was home with a stomach ache which is nothing new for this kid so we went back to the GI doc. Got an acid blocker to start on daily and ran some tests...one of which is screening for celiac which I don't think he has but he's never been tested. Also will be taking him for an ultrasound of his liver and gallbladder to make sure that's not what's causing the pain.

His sugars are still dropping on us. Yesterday at school....37, last night at the mall....36. Today at lunch I didn't even give him insulin and he was still in range 2 hours later. What??!!!! I have no idea what's going on with him.

Emma is now crawling fast and pulling up to a stand on one of her toys. I had to dig the pack 'n play out of the attic so I'd have a place to keep her contained when I need to.

O yea, and Robert and I are fine.

Shocking, I know

I'm so addicted to FB that I haven't blogged in over a month. There is no way I'm going to try to do a "catch up" blog. If you know us well enough, you know what we've been up to anyway. I'll just start with recent events.

Friday I had the privilege of attending Ethan's adoption hearing. Friday night, party at the Langfords to celebrate the adoption, Sunday church at 9 at Woodcreek, (yes that's right, a new church) then off to the 11 service at Murphy Road for Ethan's baby dedication after which I was able to "sneak out". Being at a Murph service wasn't as bad as I thought it would but it seemed so small after being at Woodcreek for the past month.

Mother's Day was wonderful! The whole weekend was. Sunday we had lunch at my parents, took my usual Sunday afternoon nap and worked in the yard. Kolton got me flowers and Robert bought me a new camera and Paul even called....not really because of Mother's Day but he did wish me a happy one. So sad his mom isn't here.

Mother's Day proved to be a long one. Kolton's sugar was only 38 at 11:00 last night and it took me until almost 3:00 this morning to get it over 100! I checked his sugar every 15 minutes! His stomach hurt too which made it much harder to bring his sugar up. His number would go up, then it would go down, then it would go up, then down, up, down, up, down until 3!!! I'm so tired tonight. I have no idea what was going on but glad he's fine today.

Emma likes to growl at her toys, crawling and pulling up on stuff. Her crawl is still slow thankfully but she gets where she wants to go!

I promise to get back to the world of blogging.

Smarty Pants...again

Kolton did very well on the TAKS reading test. I don't have the exact score yet but I know he got a commended performance which means he's 90% or above....whoo hoo!! I'll find out tomorrow the testing details. I am so proud of him!

Last night was diabetes night at the Stars hockey game so Kolton and I went. He was able to attend a meet and greet with #17 Toby Petersen who also has type 1 diabetes. We had fun at the game even though the Stars lost 5 - 2. Note to self....there is no point in leaving the game early if you ride the train!! We took a train to Pearl, another to Mockingbird and then finally the one we really needed to get all the way home which had people on it that stayed for the whole game.

The other big news for Kolton is he decided he wants an insulin pump...yay!! It'll be so much easier on all of us! We go to a pump class Tuesday and then back for 2 more classes after he actually gets his own pump. Wish us luck as we learn something new!!

Kiddo Update

It's Spring Break and Kolton is sick. Go figure. He's been running fever for a few days and a little cough but nothing major. I'm sure if I took him to the doc I would pay $10 to be told "it's just viral"....

Emma is doing well. After consulting with expert moms Hannah and Cindy I decided Emma should only get soilds twice a day and skip solids at lunch so we've got the food schedule figured out now. So far she loves all the foods and sucks them right off the spoon. It's so funny!!

Josh has started speech therapy again going on Mondays for 30 min to a private speech pathologist. The goal is to see major improvement in his conversational speech by the time he starts school in Aug. The speech pathologist said the issues are mild which is good news but poor guy....so many ear infections really effected his hearing early on and it's rearing it's ugly head now.

Paul made it back to California today. He talked to Robert when he got to San Diego but Robert's thinking he doesn't have great cell phone coverage where he is now so not sure when we'll hear from him again. I kinda miss having his stuff all over Emma's room.

Robert's band is playing in Royce City again this Friday night and they finished recording a demo and it sounds awesome...of course.

If you are looking for me to post pictures on here...sorry! I'm putting them all on dropshots so you'll have to go there to look!

Celebrate the Arts

Kolton's artwork was selected again this year to be displayed at Wylie High School during Celebrate the Arts weekend. His artwork was displayed when he was in 1st grade too. The bummer part is that it's the weekend of the scrapbooking retreat. I guess Robert will just have to take a picture of the artwork on display!!

Emma is growing like a weed and loving her stage 1 foods. She's now eating just 3 meals a day and sometimes a bottle before bed and still sleeping thru the night :)

Paul is enjoying his time home but he's so bored! He's been taking the trash out, picking up after himself, doing his laundry and even folding ours. I wonder if the Marine Corps would let me keep him home for a while longer?!! Saturday his sister is hosting a reception for him at church and Saturday night we're going to a hockey game with people I work with...that'll keep him busy that day. He flies back to California Tuesday morning EARLY. I'm pretty sure I won't be the one taking him to the airport..... Another thing he did for us that makes up for some of the gray hairs he gave me in the past....we added him to our cell phone plan and now get a 15% military discount. I wonder what other bills I can add him to?!!

Next week is springbreak and I don't know what I'm going to do with all 3 kids home all day, everyday next week! The week after that we are taking Kolton to a hockey game for JDRF night where the kids can meet the hockey play with type 1. Should be fun.

MCRD, San Diego

Ok, it's been forever since I blogged and I'm not going to even try to catch up. Let's just say I'm addicted to facebook.

Wednesday night Robert, Kolton and I flew to San Diego to attend Paul's graduation from boot camp. By the time our flight landed, we got our bags, rental car and to the hotel and to bed it was around 3 am Dallas time...yawn! Thursday morning we woke up at 7 because we felt like it was 9..nice. We attended the family day activities in the morning and then had lunch with Paul, Ami and Tony and then spent the rest of the day with Paul on base. Thursday night we took Kolton to eat fresh seafood....his favorite.

Friday graduation started at 10 and was over by 11:30. We went to the mall to get Paul clothes that fit...the clothes he wore to boot camp didn't fit anymore. After the mall we went to Coronado Island/Beach and Kolton, Ami and I looked for seashells...boy was it cold! After that we took Paul to eat Mexican food.

Saturday Robert, Kolton, Paul and I went to the San Diego Zoo and spent several hours there before flying out Saturday late afternoon. We were routed thru Phoenix and on the flight from Phoenix to Dallas, Paul got moved up to First Class...stinker didn't even tell us bye as he moved up. I doubt he knew where he was going. I'm sure the flight attendant said "come with me" and he was following orders.

Today Paul got dressed in his blues and went to church were he was recognized and church members prayed over him. Next Saturday Ami is hosting a welcome home/goodbye/you survived boot camp reception for him at the church.

Graduation was tight. That's all I can say. There is no way to describe it.

Smarty Pants

Kolton, Kolton, Kolton.

My oldest child is 9 going on 25. I do believe he is my sister's child that I am raising for some unknown reason.

A couple weeks ago I was cleaning up his room before the cleaning lady Rose got here. Josh calls her "flower" by the way so cute. And why do I clean before the cleaning lady comes? Anway, I found a calculator in his room and didn't think anything of it. Then later that night when I was checking his homework a huge 60 watt light bulb (is that a big bulb?) went off in my head. Stinker was cheating on his homework!!!! I emailed his teacher to send home more homework to do without the calculator only to find out he's in an advanced math and reading lab! I guess she was talking about my Kolton. He's always done very well in reading thanks to his first grade teacher..the one and only Carrie Lindsey! I know he'll pass the reading TAKS test in March with no trouble. Guess he may even pass Math even though he doesn't have to!!

2 Peas in a Pod

Yesterday I hosted a baby shower for my good friend Christi who is having twin girls. I will have to post a picture of her "2 Peas in a Pod" cake...it looked so good and tasted great. There's 2 hints that i didn't make it. We had a nice time and she got some great things for the girls.

Robert left late Friday evening with the boys to go to Gladewater. Jenna Bean's 4th birthday party was Saturday morning and the boys had a great time. After they got home Saturday evening we all just chilled.

Today was church, laundry and Emma and I took a nap together of course. The diaper fairy put some diapers on my car at church...could that have been you Hannah?!

This week we don't have much going on. Kolton has his regular check-up with his endocrinologist on Tuesday so I'll blog about that later this week. I feel like his A1C should still be in the normal range for a diabetic. 3 months ago it was pretty darn close to being in the normal range of a non-diabetic which means his insulin rations are working.

One more thing, my sister and her family will be moving into their new house in April. They bought a 5 bedroom home on 3 acres with a pond and pool in Topeka. It has 3400 square feet which to us TX people we think of a huge brick house. I said Topeka remember? One story with a full finished basement....I wish we had basements in TX.

And yet one more thing. We got a letter from Paul Brown on Friday and he is over half way done with bootcamp. He's been sick with an URI and fever but told the doc he was fine so he's still on track to graduate March 6th. He told us to get a "Proud Parent of a Marine" sticker on Feb. 28 which will mark the last day of training for him. The following week is Marine week in bootcamp. His mom and dad must be looking down from heaven beaming with pride.

Jenna Bean

This is the other Jenna we know, Jenna Watson, or Jenna Bean as we call her. In this picture she is talking to Uncle Robert on her 4th birthday. Notice the hand on her hip and the painted toes!!! Love you Jenna Bean.

New Toy

Check out the play saucer I got for Emma on craigslist! I found it for $40 in Murphy...can't beat that. I could have bought a brand new one for a little more but it wouldn't have had this many toys on it! Emma seems to like it and is still trying to figure it all out!

Hold on to your seat.....

That's right...a new post!!!

Of course I can't remember anything since the last post.

This past Sunday Robert, myself, Josh and Emma went to Granbury to see Mark and Gina and their six kids. At first it was sad to see Mark in another church but I got over it. It was good to hear him preach. After church we went to lunch and then went to their house to hang out and watch football. The Forrest girls loved Emma and took care of her all day and Josh ran around with the boys...inside, out, upstairs, down. Robert and I will be going back for a weekend get-a-way sometime and we are taking the kids this summer too. The lake there has a beach area that Gina said was fun.

Josh is over his strep and has been for some time now. He turns 5 on Feb. 2nd and we've booked his party for Bouncetown in Wylie. Kolton is doing good and got all A's and B's on his report card today. Emma is doing great. Still sleeping thru the night and growing like a weed...especially her hair!

Robert and I have booked our trip to San Diego to see Paul graduate from Marine Corps bootcamp in March. We are taking Kolton with us and I am so excited to go! I've never been to San Diego and have a feeling I won't want to come back to TX!

I got a Wii Fit and the boys play on it more than I do so far! Love the yoga though.

I am so addicted to facebook it's not even funny! You can probably keep better track of the fam that way!!

All is well with the Watson's. We are just a normal boring family but I really wouldn't have it any other way!

Time for Another Update

Since my last post we spent 3 days in Gladewater hanging out with Robert's family. We came home the afternoon of the 4th w/a carload of presents and laundry! I finally got our tree down on Monday and now I need to get the boxes out of the house but I can stand to look at those rather than the Christmas tree!

Tuesday was my birthday. I woke up to flowers and a card from the boys. Yes that's right. The boys. They forgot to sign Emma's name to the card! I went to the office Tuesday afternoon and found more flowers in my office and a card from the gang and we had cheesecake...my favorite! Tuesday evening my mom cooked us dinner and helped the boys bake a birthday cake. Did I mention I still have baby weight to loose? Now I have even more after that birthday!!!

Now on to the bad news....Josh has strep. 1 cousin in Gladewater was getting over strep when we arrived and cousin Jenna came down with it New Year's Day :( We figured it was only a matter of time before Josh got it but thought we had dodged the bullet. Last night he starting running fever and had been saying his throat hurt since Monday but I thought it was just allergies. Took him to the doctor today and his strep test was very positive but we don't have to start his antibiotic until tomorrow. Not sure why but considering I trust our ped with the lives of my children, I'll do what he says! I've already told him he cannot retire until my kids are grown because I'm pretty sure there is no ped as good as him!!

Tonight the ladies at church started a new bible study and it's going to be so good. I think it'll be my "sunday school" since I can't find a class I like at church.

This weekend Robert is taking me out to eat and see a movie for my birthday. Not sure if he knows it yet.

Bootcamp update: We've gotten a couple letters from Paul and he has adjusted well to bootcamp. We are going to his graduation in March and I'm getting excited already! I've never been to San Diego and I can't wait to see Paul a Marine!! We are so proud of him. He's almost 1/2 way thru bootcamp. Robert and I are taking Kolton with us so we'll get some sight-seeing in while we are there. Can't wait!
