Saturday I went to the consignment sale. In the spring I may go on Friday for the better selection but Saturday was 1/2 price day. I spent $38, got several pairs of pants for Josh, GAP sweatshirt for him and Kolton, 4 outfits for Emma, 7 blankets and 3 bassinet sheets....I think that's all. There were so many girl clothes there I was actually overwhelmed...that's the reason Emma only got 4 outfits!!
After the sale I went to Toys R Us to pick up a birthday present and got a TJ Bearytale on clearance....not sure if that will go to Josh or niece Jenna for Christmas but I had to get it. Last Christmas that bear went for $50 and I got it for $20. Next I was off to Party City to pick up invitations for Kolton's party, grabbed lunch, went home, took a nap, went to Costco with Robert, went home, and to the church by 7:00 for a surprise birthday party for the music minister. The party was good. Mark and Gina came with all of their kids and it was so good to see them. They actually didn't stay long because Gina had a meltdown. She thought she could come back to the church and see everyone and be fine but .... not so much. Guess it'll take her more time.
Today after church the kids went home with my parents. Robert and I came home, ate lunch, and guess what I did...NAP!! Big surprise. After dinner we got the crib from my mom's house and got it set up in Emma's room. Where's the picture....I know. Her room isn't done yet though...I still need more stuff for the walls but so far it does look cute.
Tomorrow Robert is playing golf in the morning and I don't plan on doing much of anything.

Bored
It's Friday night and I'm bored but don't feel like doing anything. Robert and I took the boys out to eat tonight and to blockbuster which was a beating of course. (Not eating, just the blockbuster part).
Josh is playing the Wii which he is addicted to, Robert's watching college football and Kolton went to Nanny's house. There are plenty of things I could be doing right now but am choosing to be bored instead.
I met Kolton's new teacher today to give her the diabetes 101 talk and she is so young. This is her first year of teaching which means she isn't strict yet which means Kolton will love her. He REALLY did not like the teacher he's had this week. Robert and I are both so glad he was picked to move. There is a new girl at his school this year who is also type 1 and moved into the new class too. I'm glad the 2are in the same room now...they can "take care" of each other.
We have no big plans for the weekend which is ok with me since soccer starts next Saturday. There is a huge children's consignment sale in Plano I'm going to tomorrow. Not sure what I really need but it's so big I have to go!!

Update
Kolton doesn't care for his teacher already and his blood sugars prove it! He's still running high so last night I increased his long-acting insulin which seemed to help a little today. It'll take a few days to know the full effect.
Yesterday I got a letter from the school that they are opening up a fourth 3rd grade class and Kolton was preselected to move! He can't wait!!! All I know is the new teacher is young, and seems nice per the school nurse. I hope he likes the new teacher better than the one he has had this week. He'll start in the new class on Tuesday.
Tonight we have meet the teacher for Josh at the church. His teacher this year doesn't go to our church so I'm anxious to meet her. She called last night and seems very nice. Josh's allergies are bothering him which means he's been waking up early in the morning which means he's CRANK by the end of the day because he does not take naps.
Robert got the boys soccer schedules and our Saturdays won't be too crazy after all. Half of Kolton's games are on Monday nights which works out fine for me since I work from home on Mondays. Josh has a few 8:30 am games on Saturdays.....ugh. The season is over for Kolton the end of October and Josh on November 1st...and don't forget Emma will be here right in the middle of it all!
I'm off to drop Kolton at soccer practice and take Josh to meet the teacher, back to soccer.....Just wait until we throw dance class and cheerleading into the mix.....

Back to School
Kolton survived his first day of 3rd grade!! I can't believe he's in 3rd grade. That's the grade I was in when my family moved from Wichita, KS to Kingman, KS where I stayed until I graduated from high school. I'm getting old.
I bought batteries for the camera but couldn't find them last night thanks to Josh. Kolton wouldn't have let me take the camera inside the school anyway so I'll take a picture of him at home in the morning...day 2 of 3rd grade!
Kolton was actually in bed last night at 8:30 which is very shocking for him. He must have been nervous or excited about school starting because his sugar has been high! Over 400 at 1:00 this morning high. His routine this school year will be so different for him. He'll be going to bed at 8:30 every night and up with the chickens every morning since school starts at 7:30...ugh is right!
On another note, in my previous blogs I've mentioned the Marine (David) who introduced Robert and I has been serving his 3rd tour in Iraq. Thought I'd share he is back in the US safely and his wife (Gina--that's her under my blogging friends) and daughter are in Chicago for the "welcome home reunion".

Mystery Solved
Yesterday while I was running errands Robert went up into the attic to get Emma's crib down and there was no crib! Of course I didn't believe him so I had to look for myself and guess what? No crib!! I didn't remember lending it to anyone and I knew I hadn't sold it in our garage sale but where was it?
Well, after talking to my sister, I found out the crib that was at my mom and dad's house went to Kansas when my nephew, Alex, was born. When Alex started coming down here to see grandma and grandpa he was still in a crib so the crib from my attic went to mom and dad's....mystery solved!!!

Baby Shower
I was given a baby shower at church last Saturday and it was great!! Thank you Cindy, Melissa, and Chris. Robert and I are blessed to part of such a wonderful church family who spolied Emma already with lots of presents!! We had the shower early because my sister was in town from Kansas and I wanted her there. My mother-in-law and sisters-in-law also made the trip from Gladewater. Ciindy knows how I feel about games so there was good food and lots of gifts for my baby girl!!!

Logs...Logs....Logs
Not in fire logs...logs as in medical logs.
I currently have 3 medical logs going...one for my blood pressure, one for fetal movement (I totally do not remember doing that with the boys) and the diabetes log for Kolton which involves logging like 4 different things on one log.
Some days I'm surprised I keep all the information straight. Sigh. I think us moms should earn an RN degree on experience alone!

Retail Therapy
I need to go on bedrest so I'll quit shopping for Emma. I went to Carter's tonight which was not so good on the bank account but Emma now has socks and outfits..and a diaper bag...and another crib sheet...
Robert's nephew has been here with Kolton since Saturday and after spending the week with 3 boys I needed some 'me' time. I set out to get curtains for Emma's room but had no luck. I tried Target and Linen N Things so if any of you see any cute curtains while you are out and about let me know. Robert thinks I'm insane since Emma's not due until October 15th but as I learned from Josh, bedrest can be ordered at any time. I was put on bedrest with him at 34 weeks and I'm 32 1/2 now. I don't see bedrest in my future but you never know.
I survived the first soccer practice last night. Next week will be a full week of school and 3 nights of soccer practice...now THAT'S insane.
I also took Kolton to "meet the teacher" tonight. He seems fine with who his teacher is and doesn't seem to care school starts Monday. We met a new 3rd grader who is also type 1 and wears an insulin pump...it's a girl though so I can't promise Kolton will talk to her but at least he won't be the only diabetic at school this year.
I'm still waiting on baby shower picks and then a preggo picture will be posted just for you Helen!!

Movie Night
Last night I took Kolton, cousin Dylan, and Josh to see Space Chimps...crazy I know. Josh was suppose to have soccer practice but when it got cancelled I couldn't not take him! Robert stayed behind (without protest) to meet with the soccer coach. Kolton has soccer practice tonight and sadly I'm hoping it gets rained out too. What's wrong with wanting 1 more week w/o soccer practices?!
The movie was short and sweet and we were back home by 9:00. Gave the boys something to do and it only cost me an arm since I had 2 free movie tickets.
Yesterday was another doctor's appointment and all is still going well with Emma. I'm still determined to have her before Oct. 15th but so far no reason to induce. I told Robert maybe my blood pressure will go up just a little toward the end. I'm still washing her clothes and putting stuff away. Poor kid has only 1 pair of socks(thanks Liz) but a TON of bath towels. I'll post a blog and pictures of the baby shower...yes pictures...when I get the pictures from Cindy.

N-E-S-T-I-N-G
I have been in full blown nesting mode and this week is no different. Today I was all about getting Kolton's diabetes supplies ready for school next week. This involves a 1 page list of supplies for the nurses office and another checklist for the classroom. I'm only missing 2 things...whoo hoo...and that was after Albertson's, CVS and Walgreens! Guess I'm not that far ahead of myself...I'll be dropping off all these supplies Friday at meet the teacher.
I have started washing Emma's clothes, blankets, sheets, etc. Like I said, I'm hoping to be induced at 38 weeks so I only have 6 weeks to get all her laundry done!! Last night I was also on top of writing thank you notes...ran out of thank yous and had to go to the store today and buy more. What a blessing though to have so many wonderful friends to shower Emma with presents!!!

2 Words
I have 2 words for all of you as I approach week 32 in my final pregnancy...BABY FAT. And I'm not talking Baby Phat as in Kimora Lee Simmons or whatever her name is. I mean I'm ready for October to get here so I'll quit gaining weight and stop being so hungry and craving sweets!!! You all have been very nice saying I "hardly look pregnant"...but come on!! I feel huge and Emma's only going to get bigger faster in these "last few weeks" which will feel like eternity!!!! It's pretty bad when you gain weight in your toes and fingers!!

Insanity
I've decided the definition of insanity is having 2 boys playing soccer and a baby due in the middle of soccer season. Kolton will be having practice twice a week and Josh once a week. Let me tell you, this was not my idea!! Robert decided Kolton needed to be in a sport this fall and Kolton picked soccer and Josh is old enough to start playing soccer so Robert signed him up. Robert said he'd handle all the practices but guess what...he can't! Kolton practices on Tues and Thurs...Robert has band practice at church on Thursday nights. Josh practices on Wed and Robert has a deacons meeting every other Wed. O well!! Soccer only lasts from Sept to mid-November and Emma will be here in Oct so I basically get to help the soccer taxi for Sept. After that, not sure what Robert will do.....

Baby Jenna Alcorn
My friend Hannah (remember from my meltdown post) had her baby this morning around 7:20ish. She and Brian have named her Jenna Erin and big brother Jacob will be turning 2 in September.
Robert and I have to brag a little...when Jacob was born we were the first 2 to see Jacob and Robert was the first non-family member to hold him and I remember when we left that night we took Whataburger back to Brian for dinner. Feeding Brian the day his kid is born is becoming a tradition...tonight we took them Chili's. This time we weren't the first 2 to see Jenna but we're up there on the list of visitors!!!! I think I've said in a post people at church get Robert and Brian confused (and Josh even ran up to Brian a couple weeks ago thinking it was Robert). This evening Jacob seemed a little confused that there was this guy at his house that looked like his dad. Robert and Brian even had on the same socks....need I say more?! In fact when we left their house a neighbor stopped us thinking Robert was Brian.
In case you haven't caught on yet, Jenna wasn't born at a hospital, she was born at home by the same mid-wife that delivered Jacob at a birthing center. Hannah is one tough lady!!! Did I mention Jenna was 9 pounds?!!! Hannah's a nurse and I found out tonight she was born at home too so not going to a hospital is no big deal to her. I know I am not as tough as her....so here's to you Hannah! You are one tough mama!!!
And of course we didn't take our camera with us so I have no picture to post....does this surprise anyone?!!!!

$50....SOLD
I finally got a bassinet off craigslist today for $50. Brand new would have been around $80 so my savings paid for the changing table and then some. Robert and I only had to drive to McKinney and this time we didn't have to take anything apart and the kids weren't with us so it was actually a relaxing drive.
Last night we went out to eat for Robert's birthday and this morning he took the boys bowling (that's what they wanted to do to celebrate his birthday) and I stayed at home to paint. I had big plans to paint the 2 hallways and then start on Kolton's room. One hallway later I was done for the day. The paint smell was STRONG. Not sure if being pregnant made me more sensitive to the fumes or what but Robert may be doing the 2nd hallway and the Kolton's room may have to wait until I can open the windows. And no I won't be posting pictures of my painting. The color is antique white ......
Tonight the youth had a back to school pool party at my parents house and everyone had a good time. I thought their pool was big until a bunch of junior and senior high kids jumped in!! We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and no one got hurt surprisingly.
The only other thing I did today was get my hair high lighted which I hate doing. Takes soooo long but at least it's done and I won't have to go back again until after Emma is born!!!!

Bassinet
Well, I lost the ebay bid for the bassinet. Some poor lady ended paying $77 dollars and the same bassinet sells brand new for $75. I helped drive the price up so at least I helped the seller make more money!!! Now I'm watchinig craigslist like a hawk!!! I've learned over the last few days the nice bassinets go very fast so I'm trying to be very quick!!!! I've made my list of "must have" for the bassinet and will stick to it. Did you know these things now come with a remote control? How cool is that?!
O, and just to match Hannah's blog about her electric bill....we got our bill today and for the first time in the 6 years we've lived here it was over $300!!! And we have a one story...with solar screens!! It has been very hot and I am pregnant and home all day (almost) every day. Guess I'll be like Hannah and turn off the porch light and turn the thermostat up. During the day the house already looks like a cave. Blinds closed, lights off....how sad is that! O well. Maybe the next one won't be so bad.

Changing Table Adventure
Robert and I went to Rockwall this evening to pick up my $20 changing table. I had emailed the lady about the table fitting in a mid-size SUV and she said no problem. Not sure what Robert and I were thinking because of course it didn't fit. Luckily we had met at a CVS so Robert went it and bought a screwdriver. 20 minutes after we got there it was in the back of the Envoy and off we went. We only snapped at each other once and yelled at the kids a dozen of times (or more) all for the bargain price of $20. I'll be borrowing someone's truck to go get the bassinet this weekend!!!!
Baby Emma Update
Today was another doctor's appointment and Emma is doing good. 2 weeks ago she was measuring a week behind and today she measured at 30 weeks. I don't want to talk about my weight gain. I'm fine with it but would rather not put it in writing!
I pick up the changing table tonight and hopefully a bassinet this weekend. I am in full blown nesting mode and I still have 10 weeks to go! Poor Robert.
I haven't said much about the boys lately. Boys will be boys. Josh still loves the Wii and is enjoying his new room and own space. Last Friday was an interesting day for him. Within 2 hours of being home from my mom's he stuck a bead up his nose which I had to retrieve and he shocked himself unplugging a night light. Sigh. Robert signed him up for soccer...that should be interesting.
Kolton is doing good and enjoying his summer but I'm ready for school to start I think. He used to feel his blood sugar dropping before it got under 70...now he doesn't feel low until around 60 or lower. I know there is a commercial for something that says "never leave home without it" and for us that would be starbursts!!!

Baby Bargains
I'm on the hunt for baby bargains! I found a changing table on craigslist for $20 and possibly a bassinet for $35 from ebay. My in-laws bought us the travel stroller/infant carrier, I got a free swing and a bunch of other stuff from a friend at church and of course I still have my crib and dresser so all the big stuff is taken care of (as long as I win the ebay bid). I have Emma's letters painted and the ribbon to hang them. My shower is a week from Saturday and I'm so excited!

Sigh
Cari called me Friday to say she is moving to Round Rock. Sigh. I sure am going to miss her...she ALWAYS makes me laugh....hard. I know we'll keep in touch through email and blogging and maybe she'll even come back to visit. The staff at church are dropping like flies. As long as Cindy doesn't leave too I'll be ok.

Home Make Over Update
Less than one week after we started the bedrooms make over we are almost done! All the furniture and toys are moved and we've even hung some stuff on the walls. I bought letters to spell "Emma" and got those painted. Once the boys saw what I was doing they wanted the letters for their names painted too so I went back to Hobby Lobby and Michaels to get all letters I needed. The last few things we need to do is paint the walls (which will come later) and get Emma's crib out of the attic (which will come later) and get our computer desk back in order. I love the fact that all 3 kids will have their own room. Josh's room is so cute, Emma's will be all pink and tan (I bought a "princess" plaque for her room by the way) and Kolton's looks very bare poor kid. I'm sure it won't take us long to find what he wants to hang on his walls though.

Happy Birthday Melissa
Happy birthday to my friend Melissa! We go to church together and got to know each other pretty well during a scrapbook retreat. She didn't kill me for spilling WATER on some of her pictures. Other parts of the weekend still remain confidential. What's the saying...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? Except we were only in Little Elm. Although we didn't become accountability partners this summer like I asked her to (my fault) we did swim together several times with our kids!!!!
